Copied!

Kids can now express themselves through a vast collection of outfits, hairstyles, body types, and more!

Did anyone else love digging into the dress-up trunk as a kid? The thrill of pairing unlikely pieces and embodying a brand-new character was unmatched! Kids (and adults) so rarely get a chance to try on new identities and in addition to it being fun, it’s quite liberating. Whether kids become a fairy, superhero, or don a Doctor’s uniform, they are learning far more than we may realize.

After receiving feedback about the desire for more dress-up opportunities and seeing the excitement of our team about making it, we knew this is a toy that had to come to Pok Pok. We hope your family has so much fun and can’t wait to see what looks your little ones create!

How To Play

In Dress-Up, kids get to explore a vast collection of not only wardrobe pieces, but choices in body types and features as well!

  • Setting the scene:
The toy will open to a screen that allows you to cycle through various body types by scrolling left and right. Tapping the figure will change its pose and tapping the surrounding objects will change them to new options.
  • Body, hair and face: Starting from the top, tap the tabs on the right side to open a menu and choose between skin color and optional prosthetics. Simply scroll down or up to explore. The second tab below will open a collection of hairstyles, facial hair, eyes, as well as features like scars and birthmarks!

If you want to start a fresh look, simply scroll left or right to a new figure and you will be able to return to the one you previously made as well.
  • Wardrobe: The rest of the tabs will lead to your shirt, pants, shoes, accessory, and dress options. There is everything from costumes to wild prints, formal attire and more casual fashions! If you want to remove a layer, just tap it again.
  • Music: Our sound designer, Matt, created a whole new soundtrack for this toy! You can tap the musical note in the bottom left corner to turn the music on or off.

What Will Kids Learn?

Whether they create a self-portrait or dream up a new character, kids get to flex their creativity and problem-solving skills each time they return to this toy. Additionally, they are developing…

  • Self-Awareness: When children play in Dress-Up, they embark on a journey of self-discovery and self-expression. Having the freedom to choose between different outfits allows them to experiment with personas that they may otherwise not have known could exist. This is a unique opportunity for them to reflect on their likes and dislikes and build confidence in their self-expression that’ll serve as a foundation for years to come.
  • Empathy: While children can create an avatar that resembles themselves, they also have options to build a character that may feel unlike anyone they know. From skin color to a range of body types, facial and limb differences, being introduced to diversity in our chosen and natural characteristics is so important. Now, when kids encounter someone with a prosthetic arm or facial scar for example, this difference may feel more normalized.

We also can discuss with kids how these differences may or may not matter much to the person with them. For example, some people like to celebrate and highlight their unique features while others may be more comfortable focusing on who they are outside of them.
  • Memory: The more little ones play in Dress-Up, the more they will begin to remember where each of the features lives within the menu and how to navigate it to explore their options. As they find which pieces are their favorite, they may also form a mental image of where they are within the collection! Being able to recall this information is a great skill to develop and it also exercises pattern recognition.

We’ve already seen the ways our testers play in Dress-Up so differently from each other and hope that we can continue to hear how players navigate and create in the toy. Please send any feedback and shots of your child’s creations to hello@playpokpok.com or in a message on social media. We cannot wait for your little ones to spend time with this new toy and to see how they make it their own!

We’ve been so inspired by the unique approach of each child who plays with our toys and can’t wait to hear what families like yours think of this one.
