Storytelling and pretend play are staples of a young child’s life. Whether its through world-building with a set of blocks on the floor or an imagined conversation between two berries over breakfast, this imaginative play is crucial for building their social skills — including their ability to self-regulate and manage emotions.

Islands is our love letter to all of the storytellers, adventurers, and curious minds out there. From the moment your kids open up this new toy, the soothing sounds of sea life will spark their imaginations, guiding them to explore every new possibility. It’s mindfully designed for kids to move freely through the space, uncovering little secrets, landmarks and exciting geography along the way.

From jungle homes and mysterious caves to a marine research lab and bustling beach town, there are truly endless ways to play with this toy. Our team spent months crafting water and weather systems, brand new people and animals, and some of the coolest boats we’ve ever seen!

Kids can use people, animals, marine life and boats to dream up their own stories in Islands.

How Kids Learn in Islands

Your little one will have so much fun developing skills in spatial awareness, memory, and cause and effect just by panning through the space and seeing what this expansive new world has to offer. As their curiosity grows, they can hone their storytelling skills by dreaming up narratives inspired by the unique flora and fauna. They can also pack and ship crates at the harbour, care for animals at the Wildlife Rescue, or take a trip to the great bubbling volcano (by boat, of course)!

Rather than offering a set storyline or objectives, Pok Pok’s Islands encourages kids to use their imagination and creativity to make their own unique experiences. With no set rules or limitations, children can explore the world at their own pace and learn in a fun and engaging way. This also means that there is no wrong way to play with it, and each time your child returns their experience will feel different.

As kids traverse Islands, they’re bound to encounter interesting scenarios which are carefully designed to nurture their problem-solving skills. Why is there a cave full of sea crabs? What happens when a boat ends up in a fast current? Where are the fish swimming to? We recommend letting your child lead the way, discovering things at their own pace and empowering them to make their own decisions about how they play. This helps build resilience and confidence!

In addition to lots of nature, there’s a bustling seaside community to discover.

What to Expect During Playtime

The environment in Islands is rich, diverse and completely immersive (we’re releasing it in winter for a reason)! Ranging from lush jungles and volcanic islands to bustling villages with a surf shack, restaurants and an abandoned pirate shack! Kids will experiment with traveling on water, discovering interesting marine life and peeking behind vines and rocks to discover the hidden secrets of the islands.

Each area in Islands has its own set of unique landmarks and opportunities, encouraging kids to think critically and creatively while navigating the space however they so choose. As always, our sounds and animations are handcrafted specifically for young kids and to encourage peaceful playtime.

As with every Pok Pok toy, Islands is designed to be accessible and intuitive for young children. With simple taps and swipes of their little fingers, even the youngest players can start playing and learning right away. We hope your little one enjoys Islands with just as much excitement as our team has had making it!
