Introducing the “Proud of You” Campaign

Pride season is upon us, and while Pok Pok has always supported LGBTQIA2S+ families in our app and socials year-round, we’re now taking it one step further and inviting our incredible community to join us in helping more people feel seen, safe, and loved!

Representation and inclusivity matters to us because we never set out to just make an app—we are helping raise a generation. We want every child to grow up feeling like they can belong, that those who are different from them belong, and it starts with seeing examples of this in their media.

Windows & Mirrors

One of Pok Pok’s guiding principles has always been offering kids windows and mirrors into the world. They need windows into experiences different from their own to widen perspective and build empathy, as well as mirrors that reflect their own lives and families back as equally valued and worthy of belonging.

While not everyone agrees, we’re grateful for the parents and caregivers in our community who also believe in raising compassionate, inclusive humans. The ones who lead with love, and who use their voice to speak up, especially in the face of discrimination.

Because while so much progress has been made toward greater rights and acceptance for LGBTQIA2S+ people, it’s important to remember both what gave rise to this movement and why the work continues today. Pride began as a response to injustice.

The first Pride march, held on June 28, 1970, commemorated the Stonewall Uprising one year earlier—a protest led by LGBTQIA2S+ people and allies following a police raid on the Stonewall Inn in New York City.

Pride has always been a public declaration that everyone deserves to be seen, valued, and celebrated for who they are. This month, we’re inviting our community to help spread that message by sharing words of encouragement, affirmation, and belonging.

The “Proud of You” Love Notes Campaign

Over the years, we’ve seen countless messages of support and encouragement shared within our community. It made us wish we could bottle up that feeling and offer it to anyone who needs a reminder that they are seen, celebrated, and loved. The “Proud Of You” campaign is our answer to that.

Starting this month, we’re collecting notes of affirmation for the LGBTQIA2S+ community. Each note will begin with the words, “I’m proud of you…”—words that are not only important to hear growing up, but that still make a difference today at any age.

Whether you’re writing to a friend, parent, child, your younger self, or someone you’ve never even met, your message will become part of a growing collection that anyone can visit when they need a reminder that they belong. We’re looking for words of unconditional love, encouragement, admiration, and pride—the kind of message someone might carry with them long after they’ve read it.

From the entire team at Pok Pok, we wish you a happy Pride—this month and every month after.

We’ve been so inspired by the unique approach of each child who plays Pok Pok, and would so appreciate hearing about your experience with the app. Receiving your feedback, videos, and ideas for new updates is how we keep making Pok Pok better for families everywhere!
