Celebrate the upcoming Lunar New Year and learn all about the Year of the Rabbit with your family in our Busy Book update.

Spark imagination and conversation around Lunar New Year in Busy Book!

As the Lunar New Year approaches, we transition from the Year of the Tiger into the Year of the Rabbit. To honour this holiday, Busy Book has been updated with a new Lunar New Year section that reflects the joy of families and friends coming together to enjoy the foods and traditions of Lunar New Year.

When we first introduced the Lunar New Year content last year we were so excited to hear such a positive response from parents who were overjoyed that their children could not only see themselves in Pok Pok, but that they could also use this section of the Busy Book to spark conversations around their culture and traditions.

Showing Kids Themselves & Something New

Pok Pok Creative Director Esther Huybreghts often talks about how we aim to create both windows and mirrors with our toys. Windows give kids an opportunity to look out at the world and learn something new, seeing all of the diversity the world has to offer. Mirrors give kids a chance to see themselves in Pok Pok, validating and connecting with something they feel is core to their identities.

Our wish for every toy in Pok Pok is that we can offer both windows and mirrors to kids all over the world. So, whether you see your family in our Lunar New Year content or are learning about it for the first time, we hope you will enjoy this small slice of holiday festivities.

Hand-drawn animations and sounds honour the Year of the Rabbit, sparking curiosity and exploration at every turn. The self-guided nature of the Busy Book encourages kids to follow their noses and hone important skills that support brain development, like storytelling, memory, self-regulation and cause and effect.

Our Lunar New Year update explores the wonderful traditions celebrated by families all over the world.

Lunar New Year, whether it be in Pok Pok or in your own home, is full of creative ways to observe and interact with the world around you. As you settle into the new year, take the opportunity to simply be together in play with your child, making memories and supporting their little growing brains!

From all of us here at Pok Pok, we wish everyone celebrating a prosperous, happy new year!

We’re always so inspired by the way kids interact with Pok Pok and continue to play, learn and grow, and we can’t wait to hear what families like yours think of our newest update! We’d love to receive your feedback, see your play videos and hear your ideas — share your thoughts and say hello at hello@playpokpok.com.
